* Walk Up Registration: Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at Dick’s Sporting Goods at Belmar, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

* Registration Deadlines:

February 1, 2012  (ages 8-14 Kid Pitch) registration is now closed for this age group

March 1, 2012  (ages 5-8 T-ball and Coach Pitch)

* Refund Policy: No refunds will be given after the first scheduled game. A $30 processing fee may apply after uniform handout.

DIVISIONS

T-Ball and Coach Pitch

Ages 5-8

T-Ball and Coach Pitch teams will play approximately 8 games in a April – June season. Most games will be played on Saturdays. Players will be taught the fundamentals of the game to prepare to take the next steps in our competitive program.

Registration fees for the season are $90.00 and include a LJBA game shirt, baseball cap, and socks Fundraiser included in fee this year. Each player must provide their own baseball pants, glove, and appropriate shoes.

There are no tryouts for T-Ball and Coach Pitch teams. Players are divided up and assigned to teams – 5 and 6-year olds play T-Ball, 7 and 8-year olds play Coach Pitch. Requests will be considered but are not a guarantee of placement.

Countywide Competitive Teams

Ages 8 – 14

Welcome to Lakewood Junior Baseball and the 2012 season. Lakewood Junior Baseball Association participates in the Jefferson County Junior Baseball League, JCJBL.

LJBA Tryouts will be held at Slammers Lakewood facility on Saturday, February 11th and Sunday February 12th.

Tryouts Schedule:

***Saturday February 11th ***

8 and 14 year olds:  9:45am - 12:30pm 

9 year olds: 12:30pm - 3:00pm

13 year olds: 3:00pm - 5:00pm

***Sunday February 12th ***

11 year olds:  9:45am - 12:15pm 

12 year olds: 12:15pm - 2:45pm

10 year olds: 2:45pm - 5:00pm

Players will need to check-in and get a tryout number.

Registration fees for 2012 are $165.00 and include a baseball cap, socks and use of a league jersey to be returned at the end of the season. Each player must provide their own baseball pants, glove, and cleats.

In addition, ALL players must participate in a league fundraiser or make a $35.00 donation to LJBA in lieu of the fundraiser.
 

Player Placement

Ages 8-14 Kid Pitch

Eight year olds wanting to play Kid Pitch must attend tryouts to be considered for Kid Pitch team, space is limited, if a player is not selected for a Kid pitch team they will be placed on a Coach Pitch team.

Players ages 9-14 must attend tryouts with the appropriate age group to be included in the team selection process. 

A Player’s “baseball age” is determined by their age on April 30, 2012.

Players are allowed to “play up” one year at the request of the parents, AND if selected after tryouts by a coach for the older age team. Any player desiring to “play up” should try out with both age groups to protect a fallback position.

Players/parents may request a specific coach by writing in the special request section of the registration form. Requests will be considered but are not a guarantee of placement.

Ages 8 thru 14 must attend tryouts and should indicate whether they are trying out for a higher-level team or desire to return to their 2011 team.  This does not apply to players assigned to a team during the fall tryouts.

Each player will be contacted and placed on a team within 72 hours after the completion of tryouts.

The regular season will consist of 18 games from roughly April through June.
